Thomas Halpin

Described by the Times of London as an "undemonstratively excellent violinist", Thomas Halpin has been soloist with orchestras throughout the United States and Canada.  He has recorded works by Ned Rorem, Virgil Thomson and Lou Harrison. Mr. Halpin, whose playing was described by legendary violinist Zito Francescatti as "perfect and beautiful", lives and teaches in Amherst, where, from 1983 to 1989 served on the faculy of the State University of New York at Buffalo.  This performance marks Mr. Halpin's seventh appearance with the ASO.

Maestro David Handel

A 1982 graduate of Williamsville South H.S., Maestro Handel has since literally traveled the world conducting symphony orchestras in Russia, nearly every country in South America as well as Mexico, and in the U.S., the New York Philharmonic, BPO, and Civic Orchestra of Chicago to name a few.  Presently. he is Principal Guest Conductor of the Moscow City Symphony, and Artistic Advisor to the Serena Symphony in Chile.  We welcome him home and are honored to play under his baton on Feb. 8.

We are especially grateful to the folks from Buffalo Drum Outlet, Twin Village Music and Monaco's Violin Shop and Music Centre for providing the musical instruments, guidance, and fun atmosphere that year after year make our "Petting Zoo" enjoyable and educational for the entire family.                            


                                As Always since 1946, these concerts are free and open to everyone.
