Association Board

Association Boards/Committees

The Association Board is a marvelous group of people who meet monthly; there are about 35 of us. We are engaged in making the orchestra able to go public. Our purpose is to support the needs of the orchestra and of the musicians- we provide the music, the facility, and all that is required to produce the concerts.

Also, we provide the structure so that we can do these necessary tasks. Here, within the board, committees are set up which are structured around the areas of finance, public information and services. The Finance Committee, for example, includes procuring the money for the facility, the purchase or rental of music, and the production of the concerts. Another part of that effort is fundraising so we have the money to supply those needs. In the area of public information, the primary focus is getting out the word about the orchestra and the concerts so people will come to listen.

Additionally, we want to be able to fulfill other kinds of needs that we see out in the community and to encourage, particularly our young people, to take an interest in music. We encourage involvement of our youth through scholarships, concert program cover competitions, school outreach events and a family concert. So, we make a very deliberate attempt to encourage young people to participate and become interested in music.

Why do we do this? These many dedicated people support the arts in which we are interested. It gives us the opportunity to provide our community with good music. And finally, the major reason for each one of us is to have a chance to give back to our community.~John Olsen Past President
