About the Artist
Dawn Pierce, mezzo-soprano, is a native of Olean, New York, and currently an assistant professor of voice at Ithaca College. She often performs Verdi’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and Handel’s Messiah with throughout the country including recent performances with the Bach and Beyond Festival, Syracuse Symphoria, Asheville Symphony, Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, and York Symphony. In 2018, she was a featured recitalist with Middlebury Song Festival and First Fridays in Albany, and created the role of Maria von Wedermeyer in McElyea’s TENEBRAE. On the operatic stage, she recently performed Béatrice in Beatrice et Bénédict with Asheville Lyric Opera, Charlotte in Werther with Mobile Opera, and Carmen in Carmen with Opera Ithaca. Her course, How to Sing with The Great Courses will be released in 2020. She earned a Performing Artist Certificate and a Master's in Opera Performance from the AJ Fletcher Opera Institute and holds Bachelor's degrees in Vocal Performance and Music Education from Ithaca College.
