Welcome to the 74th Season

The Amherst Symphony Orchestra has been performing music for audiences continuously for 73 years, beginning in 1946 with Joseph Wincenc, our founder and first conductor. Located in Amherst, NY, the orchestra provides Western New Yorkers with four, free concerts, (October, December, February April) and one Summer, out-of-doors concert (August) each year with musical themes all will enjoy. Along with concerts, our volunteer musicians from all walks of life, are involved in School Outreach programs each year, allowing young “future musicians” to learn more about music and about the instruments of the orchestra. We begin our second year of the ASO Ambassadors this season, ensemble groups of our musicians sharing their love of music and performing at hospitals, senior residences and community sponsored events. Come join us, as a musician or a supporter in the audience. Music for everyone!
Susan Arrigo
ASO Association President
The all volunteer Amherst Symphony Orchestra always welcomes musicians interested in joining our ensemble. Due to smaller sections of winds and percussion, openings may not be immediately available, and we may hold your name for future reference. Seating in the string sections is less limited.
