Our Conductor
Nick DelBello
Nick DelBello is a sought-after conductor and educator, known for his innovative programming, conducting technique and connection with audiences. Mr. DelBello has been Music Director of the Clarence Summer Orchestra since 2019, becoming only the third Music Director in the orchestra’s sixty-five year history. In that time he has worked with guest artists from across the country and forged new partnerships with local composers and arts organizations. In addition to his appointment with the CSO, Mr. DelBello will assume the Music Directorship of the Amherst Symphony Orchestra this fall and lead the orchestra in four concerts annually.
Mr. DelBello has appeared as a guest conductor with the Genesee, Orchard Park and Southern Tier Symphonies as well as the Greater Buffalo Youth Orchestra and numerous festival ensembles for local and state music education associations, and was the Music Director of the Cheektowaga Symphony from 2016-2022. He was also the Interim Artistic Director and Conductor of Buffalo Opera Unlimited from 2022-2023. He made his debut with the company producing and conducting Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera in December 2022, which was hailed by Buffalo Rising as “a first rate production”. He also produced and conducted a double bill of Menotti’s The Medium and The Telephone to critical acclaim.
He is a full-time music teacher at Williamsville South High School where he is the co-director of the choral program and teaches courses in Music Theory. Mr. DelBello is also active locally as a pianist and organist and has performed with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra. Mr. DelBello holds degrees from SUNY Fredonia and the University of Miami, and was included in the 2022 class of Buffalo Business First’s “Forty Under Forty” list, honoring young professionals for career achievements and community involvement.
